In a groundbreaking move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore have established a new strategic partnership, strengthening their nations’ collaboration and paving the way for innovative cooperation.
At their meeting today in Singapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore elevated their bilateral relationship to a new level by forging a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. At Wong’s invitation, Modi is spending two days in Singapore.
The beginning of this momentous new chapter in the relationship between India and Singapore was marked by PM Modi’s warm reception upon his arrival at the Singapore Parliament House, where he was greeted with a red carpet.
The leaders reviewed a number of topics, including advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalization, healthcare & medicine, skills development, and sustainability, during a productive session, according to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. The goal of this strategic alliance is to strengthen collaboration across these vital industries.
This encounter is especially significant because it comes right after Singapore PM Wong took office and before PM Modi started his third term. Four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit. Later, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong will meet with Prime Minister Modi. Modi will also be honored with a lunch hosted by them.
In keeping with the emphasis on strengthening cooperation in the semiconductor industry, PM Modi will also meet with business executives in Singapore and tour a semiconductor manufacturing plant.
Following his recent visit to Brunei, which was the first time an Indian prime minister had traveled there on a bilateral basis, Modi is now visiting Singapore.
