Former IPS officer Kishore Kunal was renowned for his bold and straightforward style of law enforcement, especially when he served as Patna’s SP in the 1980s.
In his most famous case, the Bobby Murder Case, Shwetnisha, also called “Bobby” in Patna, died inexplicably.
Bobby was a stunning and strong political lobbyist with connections to key people in Bihar.
Her murder rocked the state, and Kishore Kunal’s inquiry showed that corruption and political intrigue were the real causes of her death.
Kunal stood out for his keen investigative abilities and unwavering dedication to justice.
He followed the investigation tenaciously in spite of political pressure to drop it, even directing a second post-mortem that established Bobby’s death was a murder.
Political leaders grew to worry about being exposed as the case began to fall apart, and the CBI was eventually given control of it, which many feel hindered its development.
Because of Kunal’s reputation, several offenders fled Patna or went into hiding to avoid his investigations.
Even though he is no longer with us, we still honor and remember his efforts to improved policing and his battle against corruption in Bihar.
