 Key Facts About Ukraine:

Ongoing Conflict: Ukraine has been embroiled in a conflict with Russia since February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a large-scale military invasion. The tensions, however, trace back to 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and supported separatist movements in eastern Ukraine, leading to continued conflict in the Donbas region. The 2022 invasion significantly escalated the situation.

  • Geographically, Ukraine holds the distinction of being Eastern Europe’s second-largest country, surpassed only by Russia.
  • Capital City: Kyiv is the capital and largest city of Ukraine
